about akt

akt is the only national charity in the UK dedicated to providing support for LGBTQ+ young people who are either at risk of homelessness or currently experiencing it.

LGBTQ+ individuals often find themselves homeless because of their identities, making them more vulnerable than their heterosexual and cisgender peers. Over 50% of the young people supported at akt are trans or non-binary, and with no policies in place to protect them, those numbers are expected to rise.

When you buy When the Rose Speaks Its Name, all proceeds from your purchase go directly to akt. Engage with LBGTQ+ stories and artwork & provide services to youth.

akt supports LGBTQ+ young people by providing routes into safe, affordable, long-term housing, as well as actions around employability, mental health, community building, youth engagement and healthcare.
